Speaking for LAN Andrew Flood said
"In recent years Ireland has become increasingly involved in the wars of the EU and its main ally, the USA. These mighty military forces do not need the very small and primitively equipped Irish army to fight for them. What they have needed and have got is the use of Irish airspace, airports, and seaports to facilitate transportation of soldiers and weapons around the globe.
In the last year it has become obvious that a huge number of US military flights, an average of three or four a day, have been landing at Shannon Airport. Members of LAN have protested at the airport and on one occasion our protest started as hundreds of US marines in desert camouflage gear disembarked from their plane. This shows how Ireland is increasingly drawn into the military adventures of the EU and its allies.
In the Nice referendum the people of Ireland have a chance to express their opposition to this growing militarisation by voting No."
