To the community of Tephe', municipality of Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo, Mexico.
Indigenous brothers and sisters of Tephe':
We were greatly moved when we read the letter you sent us, inviting our delegation to pass through your community during the trip it will be making to Mexico City. We are including your words here so that other brothers and sisters might know them:
"We know you are soon going to be coming to our state of Hidalgo, we want you to come and have your meeting here in the indigenous community of Tephe', here in Ixmiquilpan, we have a spa and a hotel so you can sleep a bit and bathe if you are tired. We also want to hear what you say here also. The indigenous community of Tephe' is expecting you soon."
Then, brothers and sisters of Tephe', we would like to tell you that it would be a great honor for us to be able to share shelter and food with you on our trip. We, like you and like all honest men and women in Mexico, want peace and the recognition of the rights which we have as the Mexican indigenous we are. That is why we are making this trip, and that is why we are most sincerely grateful for the help you are giving us.
We are letting you know that we will be arriving in your community on February 28, 2001. We are 24 delegates, 5 are women and 19 are men. We do not need anything special for sleeping or eating. Your solidarity with us is enough shelter to cover us, and your words shall be enough food to nurture us.
Salud brothers and sisters of Tephe', Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo. We shall meet on February 28, 2001.
