Press Communique'

Yesterday, August 7, at about 3:30 in the afternoon, three Public Security trucks arrived in the community of Tierra y Libertad - where 61 indigenous families were expelled - in order to even more encourage the Development, Peace and Justice group.

The presence of the Public Security police will only serve as a mockery for the expelled indigenous, as much of the press has already been able to verify, instead of actions, the damage and arbitrary acts by the independent Development, Peace and Justice group.

Because of this, they continue to be in possession of the above-mentioned community, and the expelled indigenous compa~eros continue suffering in the mountains.

An hour after Public Security arrived, the representatives and leaders of the independent Development, Peace and Justice group were encouraged to make a statement against the expelled indigenous to the Public Ministry office. An indigenous compa~ero was able to confirm that, at about 6:30 PM, the leaders and representatives of the armed group were making statements in the Public Ministry agency.

The displaced indigenous compa~eros believe that the independent Development, Justice and Peace group do indeed have government protection, because, even after the boys, girls, women and old ones have been suffering in the mountains for 5 days, there have been no arrests of the agitators. On the contrary, they are calmly making statements to the MPIO against the displaced. On August 7, at 7:30 PM, the complaint was filed at the Public Ministry office in the city of Yajalo'n against those responsible for the incidents which took place in the Tierra y Libertad community, and the results of that complaint are being awaited.

In response to this entire situation, it is demanded that the competent, relevant authorities punish those responsible for the events which took place on August 3. Punishment is also demanded for Deputy Raymundo Alfonso Trujillo and Marcos Albino, as the top leader of said armed group.

We are calling on governmental and non-governmental bodies to send letters to the Attorney General for the purpose of applying the full weight of the law against Se~ores Alonso Entzin Pe'rez, Mario Cruz Pe'rez, Pedro Entzin Pe'rez, Juan Entzin Pe'rez, Roman Lo'pez Montejo, Diego Entzin Guzma'n, Ricardo Hidalgo Lo'pez, Miguel Hidalgo Lo'pez, who appeared in the picture in the newspapers.

Rosendo Hidalgo Lo'pez, Javier Hidalgo Lo'pez, Abraham Diaz Mendoza and Samurai Gonza'lez Bargas, from the state of Quintana Roo, who demonstrated the help the armed groups are receiving from the government through the Public Security and Judicial police, in giving training to the paramilitaries.
