We, the residents of this town, wish to release to the public a document, everything we have been experiencing of late, everything that has happened since September 29, and from here forward, concerning the death of Senor Guadalupe Go'mez Me'ndez. We are not going to be responsibile for discussing it, because we do not know who the murderer is. We are also afraid to pass by there, where the incident took place, but his relatives want to accuse us here, in the same community. We also do not want them to continue saying that, when they found the deceased, they left their relatives' house and nothing has been said. That is why we do not want them saying that they are in refuge because of the zapatistas. We want them to return to their house, it is not right for them to abandon their houses, their animals, their lands. We have no intention of siezing what belongs to them. The wife, son and daughter, who are the father's heirs, it is not possible for them to abandon everything.
We are not going to be responsible if their animals die, who should be cared for in their houses. We are not going to decide anything, because we are owners of the community ourselves, we, who are the majority, have been respectful, and we have never attacked anyone, we are not aggressive, we are respectful, reasonable people, we do not want violence, we wish to live in peace.
