Via this communique, we hereby denounce the events that occured in Cerro Hueco Prison, Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, Mexico. Today at three o'clock in the morning, there was an assassination attempt on two companeros, named Manuel Gutierrez Mendez and Antonio Arias Hernandez, both among the displaced support bases of the EZLN, who a short while ago were unjustly arrested by PRI-ista paramilitaries and Public Security. They went to a commission to be able to see their coffee fields, located in the community of Tsanebolom.
The PRI-ISTA President of Chenalho, Antonio Perez Arias, is a farce for what he has published and the agreements he has made, namely that there is free transit and coffee harvest for both the CIVIL SOCIETY OF LAS ABEJAS and SUPPORT BASES OF THE EZLN, agreements which were not fulfilled, but in which these companeros believed due to the signatures of 66 PRI-ista municipal agents, and not only that but the fact that they're signed by different non-governmental organizations; this is why they went to go see their coffee fields. Once again, a trick.
The companeros were not wearing ski-masks, nor were they provoking any problems; they just went to look at their properties.
In other communities as well, they are looking for ways to cause problems. The paramilitaries and caciques are organizing the invasion of lands such as Yaxgemel, Yabteclum, los Chorros and Majumchos, which have been affected by this problem; for this reason, we ask for your intervention, to resolve the issue of the companeros. If something happens to them, we hold responsible the muncipal president as well as the state and federal governor.
The Government's intentions are to weaken the struggle, manipulate the people as it has always done, and thus continue to exploit it, but in our case it is mistaken.
And as for Antonio, a faithful representative of his Government, even dogs won't bite their own children; why are you killing your brothers, Antonio? Haven't you realized we have the same blood? Doesn't your mirror tell you where you come from? Have you forgotten that you, too, are indigenous?
We want to tell all people that what the government is doing is trickery, and that they don't believe corrupt news.
SINCERELY, AUTONOMOUS MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF POLHO
BARTOLO GUTIERREZ VAZQUEZ
